Sisal is soaked and beaten to release the fibers. Then after twisting and sometimes dying, the fibers are woven into this useful shopper. The women weavers are located in a rural area full of wildlife and are often visited by people on eco-safaris. The group is part of an organization that promotes responsible tourism in Kenya. The weavers are members of the International Federation for Fair Trade.
