Dan masks of Ivory Coast are traditionally used for many purposes in various ceremonies and events. Deangle masks such as these are used by members of a Dan village when they interact as ambassadors with the camp of the Go initiation society, which is separate.
Deangle masks can be identified by slit shaped eyes, which are symbolic of feminine aspects in much of West African art. A dark patina and fine features are also present and often accompanied by fiber or cowrie shells.
You will receive the exact mask pictured above.
