These People United baskets come from a group of women weavers in Uganda. They represent the coming together and reconcilation between peoples not only of Uganda, but also throughout the world. Banana stalk fiber creates a sturdy base that dyed raffia is coiled around to make this strong basket. These baskets are traditionally used for serving food in Uganda. Another interesting tidbit - Uganda is the source of one of the legs of the the mighty Nile River - the lifeblood of Egypt and Sudan in the North.
