Bukedo & Raffia Bowl  14 In.<br>UR11
Bukedo & Raffia Bowl  14 In.
UR11
Approx 13-15 inches Across X 3-4 inches Deep

Bukedo is the local term in Uganda for banana leaf stalks. Along with raffia that comes from palm trees, these materials are renewable, plentiful resources. A large percentage of the women that weave these baskets are disabled, just as is the founder of the group. Her mission is to support as many other people that are disadvantaged as she can - through the promotion of their handcrafts.

Bukedo creates a sturdy base that dyed raffia is coiled around to make this strong basket. These baskets are traditionally used for serving food in Uganda. We like to use them as a fruit bowl or to hold onions, garlics and peppers. They look great mounted on a wall or propped on a shelf or even sitting on a coffee table to hold remote controls.

Although each basket is uniquely handwoven and thus varies slightly, you will receive a basket that looks very close to this photo.
